Surrey CF

Perhaps this isn’t something I should shout about but I genuinely woke this morning having had a nightmare that we lost Crewe and Nantwich. Luckily, and partly due to the hard work of CF and the incredible campaigning that has gone on over the past 2 weeks this was not the case and the people of Crewe and Nantwich sent a message to Gordon Brown by choosing the Conservative candidate Edward Timpson over the Labour Tamsin Dunwoody with a massive 7,860 majority!!

Having spent a week in Crewe myself all I can say is thank you to those that have been campaigning for months to secure this victory, thank you in patricular to Patrick Sullivan, National Campaigns Director, for the quite staggering national campaign day which saw buses from Manchester, London, Birmingham and Nottingham descend on Crewe, and most of all thank you to the hordes of wonderful people I met up there for one of the most fun and inspiring weeks I’ve spent in a long time.

Now we can look forward to the Henley by-election when it is called  safe in the knowledge that even Labour safe seats are sending out the message that Gordon Brown and a Labour government is to be something of the past to a Conservative Future.

Just a reminder that the Surrey County Show is to be held in Guildford this Monday bank holiday and it promises to be a brilliant event with a great CF presence; being rather a fool I mislaid my phone in Crewe but for any details please contact me on aswann@surrey.cfbranch.com .

On Sunday the 18th May there will be a national CF day in order to help fight the by-election in Crewe and Nantwich in support of Edwards Timpson the PPC. It should start at around 11.30 and meet at Crewe train station.

There are buses and cars going from London, if you would like a place please contact Tim Montgomerie at tim@conservativehome.com.
I know it’s a long way from Surrey but it will be a brilliant day and I shall be in Crewe from Wednesday if anyone would like any assistance or more details so please come along if you can spare a day or two!

I am delighted to announce that we will be having a CF stand at the Surrey County Show on the bank holiday of the 26th May! It is always great to have a presence at local events and Anne Milton our MP for Guildford will be attending to meet constituents and answer any questions.

Anne Milton, our MP for Guildford, has pledged her support for CF and it’s role in her campaign for re-election when an election is finally called.

Following a successful meeting between Anne, Patrick Sullivan (National Campaigns’ Director) and myself to discuss how CF can back the Guildford campaign and help to reach out to young people, plans have been made to show CF’s support including further involvement at Freshers’ Faires, regular action days and a presence at the Surrey County Show.
